Description
In the role of Junior Analyst, you will contribute to the team’s work in international cooperation with partner countries and regions across the African continent, and to strengthen cooperation between Germany and Africa on sustainable transport and electric mobility. The team’s work currently centres on the capacity building and the acceleration of the electrification of vehicle fleets in African countries, but the position is designed to grow with the team’s portfolio and may extend to further projects and country engagements over time. Within an initial two-year phase, implemented together with partners, African and international consortium partners, the team builds capacity among African think tanks and partner institutions, advises policy makers, and coordinates international dialogue formats on cooperation with Africa. As Junior Analyst, you will provide research, writing and organisational support across these and future activities of the team. Scope of tasks: Support the team in implementing capacity-building programmes for African partners on policy areas relating to sustainable transport and e-mobility, including coordination with external consultants where relevant, Conduct research and contribute to drafting reports, briefings and other knowledge products that communicate project insights and findings to policymakers, think tanks and other stakeholders, Support the planning, coordination and hosting of international dialogue formats and exchange platforms with African partners, including joint events. Assist with the content and logistical preparation of workshops, meetings, exchanges etc Monitor political, regulatory and thematic developments relating to sustainable transport and e-mobility across Africa, Support the preparation of studies and background research as input to policy advice and consulting activities, Contribute to the documentation of project activities and maintenance of the team’s partner and stakeholder network across the continent, Provide general administrative and organisational support to the team, including on future projects as the team’s portfolio develops. A university degree in economics, engineering, environmental, political or transport sciences, or comparable academic qualifications, First relevant experience e.g. through internships, working student positions or comparable in climate and environmental protection in transport or in international cooperation or policy advice is an advantage, Genuine interest in Africa’s transport transformation and international climate and development cooperation, Strong data analysis, research, analytical and report-writing skills, A high level of self-initiative, motivation and ability to work under pressure, Very good communication and teamwork skills, and interest in working in inter- and transdisciplinary groups and in an intercultural context, Business fluent in English, at least basic knowledge of German; knowledge of French is desirable, Excellent user skills of MS Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. the chance to work in a highly professional, committed team on one of the essential global tasks of the future, an attractive full-time job in Berlin-Mitte, with the opportunity to contribute your own ideas within an international, cooperative working environment, close collaboration with a network of African think tanks, embassies and international partner organisations, an employment contract initially limited for 2 years, with the option of extension.
