Description The Junior Accountant is responsible for managing the financial activities of a nonprofit organization, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with applicable regulations and funding requirements. This role includes maintaining financial records, preparing budgets and financial reports, monitoring grants and supporting audits. The accountant ensures that all financial practices align with nonprofit accounting standards and helps leadership make informed financial decisions that support the organization’s mission. Position Title: Junior Accountant Position Type : Full-Time with Benefits, 35 Hours per week B enefits Eligibl e: Yes, eligible for full benefits package Locatio n: Bayville, NJ Department: Administration Responsibilities : General Accounting & Accounts Payable Prepare journal entries and account analyses Process and maintain accounts payable, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation Complete monthly bank and payroll reconciliations Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and billing documentation Financial Reporting & Analysis Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting Compile and analyze financial data to support program and leadership decision-making Account Reconciliation Reconcile multiple representative payee and general ledger accounts Research and resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy Budget & Operational Support Assist with budget preparation, tracking, and reporting Support ongoing financial monitoring and administrative needs of the department Collaboration & Process Improvement Communicate with program staff to support financial operations Contribute to process improvements and special projects as needed Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Related field 1-3 Years of accounting experience. Non-Profit or Healthcare experience a plus Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g. MS Great plains or similar) Strong written and verbal skills.
