Assignments may require the developer to build reference solutions, review AI-generated code, identify architectural weaknesses, troubleshoot defects, and compare alternative implementations. Each contribution should demonstrate how an experienced Java engineer balances scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and operational reliability. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java. * Build production-ready services and APIs with the Spring Boot framework. * Architect microservices that support complex functional and operational requirements. * Review AI-generated Java code for correctness, efficiency, maintainability, and security. * Translate technical specifications into clear application components and implementation plans. * Develop REST APIs with appropriate request validation, error handling, authentication, and response structures. * Evaluate service boundaries, data flow, dependency management, and integration patterns. * Write clean, modular, reusable, and well-documented Java code. * Apply object-oriented programming, design patterns, and backend engineering principles appropriately. * Troubleshoot application defects, integration failures, runtime errors, and unexpected system behavior. * Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks involving database access, memory, concurrency, network communication, or service design. * Improve backend reliability through exception handling, logging, monitoring, testing, and fault-tolerance practices. * Review code submitted by peers and provide specific, constructive technical feedback. * Compare alternative solutions and explain relevant architectural and implementation tradeoffs. * Collaborate remotely with engineers, researchers, reviewers, and project stakeholders. * Document application architecture, APIs, dependencies, assumptions, and technical decisions. * Assess backend systems for scalability, availability, maintainability, and security. * Support data-intensive or AI-driven application requirements when relevant to the project. * Adapt quickly to unfamiliar codebases, libraries, specifications, and development environments. * Contribute expert examples that improve AI understanding of Java and backend software engineering.
