IT Technician - help desk

We are seeking to recruit a diligent IT technician to provide hardware and software maintenance and technical support at BIOPOLIS.
IT Technician duties and responsibilities will include:
• Installation of PC hardware
• Check and maintain computer hardware (such as mouses and keyboards)
• Install, configure and manage software and their functions according to specifications
• Develop and maintain local networks
• Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
• Assist in and plan training, development and education for new software and hardware
• Troubleshoot to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes
• Maintain hardware and software inventory
• Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders when necessary
IT Technician requirements:
• Previous working experience as IT Technician (1+ years);
• Hands on experience with diverse computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Windows, MacOS, Linux) and networks;
• Active Directory knowledge;
• Knowledge of network infrastructure, architecture, connectivity, and security;
• Problem solver and attention to details;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Outstanding organisational and time-management skills.
Selection criteria:
In a first stage, candidates will be ranked based on:
• Professional experience (50%)
• The relevance of academic degree(s) and/or other professional training(s) (20%)
• Motivation letter (30%)
On a second stage the top-most ranked candidates (with more than 50% at the curricular evaluation) will be selected for an interview. The final rank will be calculated by the weighted average of the interview (40%) and the original ranked mark (60%). The interview will focus on the motivation of the candidate and his/her knowledge on the subject of this call. It may also include a technical discussion and/or technical questions. The jury will not choose any of the candidates if they all fail to demonstrate that they are a good fit to the position.
The selection panel will be formed by: Nuno Fonseca (Head of IT), Albano Beja-Pereira (IP) and António Múrias (PhD)
The work will be primarily conducted at CIBIO-InBIO, UP – Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos, Universidade do Porto, located at Campus de Vairão, Vila do Conde.
