Freeform builds AI-native manufacturing systems that unify software, hardware, and physics for industrial-scale production. This Junior System Administrator role is responsible for keeping factory, engineering, and business operations infrastructure running daily, spanning helpdesk support, on-premise infrastructure, endpoint management, and networking across bare metal servers, virtualization platforms, storage, and network connectivity. What You'll Do • Provide day-to-day helpdesk and desktop support across Windows and Linux environments • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premise infrastructure including bare metal servers, virtualization platforms, and SAN storage • Administer and support core identity services including Active Directory and Azure AD/Entra ID • Manage endpoints company-wide using Intune, including application packaging, configuration profiles, and Group Policy • Support and troubleshoot LAN and WiFi networking, including switching, cabling, wireless access points, and connectivity issues • Apply security-first practices to patching, hardening, access control, and data handling • Set up and troubleshoot AV and video conferencing systems across conference rooms • Onboard and offboard employees with account provisioning, hardware setup, and access management • Maintain IT asset and license inventories throughout their lifecycle • Document systems, network topology, workflows, procedures, and fixes to build the IT knowledge base • Collaborate with senior IT staff on larger infrastructure projects and expand responsibility over time What You Need • 1+ years of experience in a system administration role • Hands-on exposure to on-premise infrastructure: bare metal servers, virtualization, SAN storage, and networking • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including LAN and WiFi • Experience administering Windows systems and working familiarity with Linux • Experience with Active Directory and Azure AD/Entra ID • Familiarity with endpoint management tools such as Intune, application packaging, and Group Policy • Experience setting up and troubleshooting AV and video conferencing systems • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work at height • Ability to operate a scissor lift for racking equipment and running cable • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation • Willingness to work occasional weekends to support maintenance windows and critical operations Nice to Have • Experience with Kubernetes • Familiarity with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or PowerShell DSC • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP • Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Grafana and Prometheus • Ability to write basic scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate routine tasks • Experience supporting Siemens Teamcenter • Experience working in an engineering environment supporting engineering applications and development tools including CAD packages, MATLAB, and Visual Studio • Familiarity with CMMC and NIST 800-171 compliance requirements • Strong documentation habits including asset and license tracking, runbook writing, and record maintenance • Security-first mindset in daily operations and system administration Estimated salary range $80,000–$100,000 per year, plus significant stock option packages, 100% employer-paid Medical/Dental/Vision insurance (PPO and HMO options), life insurance, Traditional and Roth 401(k), paid vacation/sick leave/company holidays, generous paid parental leave, free daily catered meals, casual dress, flexible work hours, and catered team building events
