Description
The Irrigation Installation Crew Leader must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of irrigation installation to: wiring controller and valves, pressure testing, trenching/pulling pipe; installing heads, rotors, valves, main and lateral lines, drip line, bubblers, etc.; operating equipment, installing commercial and residential irrigation systems; and interfacing with customers, subcontractors, architects, etc. Requires minimal supervision and conducts all jobs in a safe manner while directing a crew of two to four employees. The Irrigation Installation Crew Leader must also attend to and complete all paperwork and administrative requirements related to the job while creating and maintaining a professional job atmosphere.
Skill set and educational requirements: The Irrigation Installation Crew Leader, who is a WORKING FOREMAN, must possess the following skill set and educational background:
• Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.
• Legal documentation to verify employment eligibility.
• Physically able to handle the workload of an Irrigation Installation Leadman and/or Laborer.
• Is a certified irrigation technician (CIT) or willing to work towards certification.
Responsibilities:
• Thoroughly understands all aspects of irrigation installation as outlined above.
• Ensures that company production standards are met.
• Able to train crew as a team and maintain a high level of morale.
• Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
• Ensuring that the correct drawings and materials are loaded in the morning.
• Overseeing installation of valves, fittings, heads, controller, and water connection
• Organizing job trailer and making sure all tools are back in their designated locations.
• General neatness of jobsite, trash is picked up, sidewalks and driveways swept off
• Testing all functions of newly installed sprinkler system and inspecting operation (wiring, coverage, head adjustment, head height and straightness)
• The Irrigation Installation Crew Leader must keep the Irrigation Installation manager apprised of progress (or lack thereof) on all jobs before leaving jobsite.
• Able to work with minimal supervision from Irrigation Supervisor but knows when to ask for assistance.
Continuing education requirements: minimum of 10 hours per year.
