Department: Medical Examiner Grade: 220NM Salary: $28.58/hour Job Duties: • Responsible for investigating deaths occurring within the jurisdiction of the Jackson County Medical Examiner's office. • Writes complete, accurate, and comprehensive statements of the investigations to support the Medical Examiner’s examination in establishing cause of death. • Conducts on-site investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding death including time of death and probable cause of death; and collects medical records and demographic information Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or Biological Sciences that includes anatomy or physiology is preferred and/or one (1) year of full-time experience as a medical investigator, deputy coroner, law enforcement officer, mortician, paramedic/emergency medical technician, firefighter, registered nurse, or related field. • A combination of education and/or experience will be considered. • Must have the ability to obtain a Medicolegal Death Investigator registration within first year of employment. • Must possess/maintain a valid Driver's License. • Must submit to/pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
