Description
Interim Financial Controller / Finance Director (6–9‑month contract) Location: London – Remote option Our client is a medium‑sized, employee‑owned business in the leisure and ticketing industry. With a turnover of c.£25 m and transaction volumes around £225 m a year, the company is embarking on a major finance‑system change and needs an experienced finance leader to bring order to its data and controls. The opportunity • System implementation: Lead the replacement of QuickBooks with a dual‑entry accounting platform. Oversee data migration, ensure reconciliation accuracy and build reporting functionality that meets the needs of an employee‑owned business. • Data remediation: Tackle historically messy data and develop a robust control environment that improves financial accuracy, reporting and compliance. • Team leadership: Manage a finance function of 8–10 staff (including accounts payable, payroll, credit control and data specialists). Provide hands‑on support while mentoring team members and enhancing processes. • Reporting & governance: Develop clear monthly management reports, cash‑flow forecasts and board‑level information to meet increased reporting requirements since the business became employee‑owned. • Potential for permanence: The contract is initially 6–9 months, but there may be scope for the right candidate to transition into a permanent finance‑director role as the business evolves. Candidate profile • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with experience as a financial controller or finance director in mid‑sized companies. • Proven track record of implementing or upgrading accounting systems and cleansing complex data sets. • Comfortable dealing with high transaction volumes and building controls from the ground up. • A hands‑on, pragmatic style and willingness to “roll up your sleeves” in a lean finance team. • Strong communication skills and ability to work with non‑finance stakeholders. • Availability to start quickly; open to hybrid working with occasional travel to Brixton. This role offers the chance to drive tangible change in a growing, employee‑owned business and could provide a springboard into a long‑term leadership position.
