Description
Insurance M&A and Strategic Transactions Associate / Vice President About the Opportunity A leading alternative investment platform with a large and growing insurance solutions business is hiring into its M&A and strategic transactions team. The platform advises on and invests alongside a network of life, annuity, and P&C insurance affiliates, drawing on a broader credit and asset based finance investment engine. The team supports a steady pipeline of reinsurance treaties, block trades, and corporate acquisitions across the insurance and reinsurance space. Role Description This role sits within the M&A and strategic transactions function and covers financial due diligence and valuation on insurance and reinsurance opportunities, deal modeling and structuring across reinsurance treaties, block trades, and corporate acquisitions, coordination with affiliated insurance entities and internal investment teams through the life of each deal, and authorship of investment memos and diligence materials for senior stakeholders and investment committees. The successful candidate will work closely with senior members of the insurance solutions team and will get regular exposure to large scale life and annuity transactions, alongside broader M&A activity across the platform's insurance footprint. Requirements / Ideal Background Experience in FIG M&A investment banking with insurance and reinsurance coverage, insurance focused private equity, or insurance asset management, with direct exposure to insurance transactions. Associate level candidates typically have up to five years of experience, VP level candidates typically have five to eight. Track record of financial due diligence, valuation, and deal execution on insurance and reinsurance opportunities, including life and annuity blocks, reinsurance treaties, or corporate acquisitions of insurance and reinsurance companies. Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to build integrated deal models bringing together liability, asset, capital, and earnings considerations, and to work alongside actuarial counterparts on underlying liability inputs. Working knowledge of life and annuity product mechanics, reserving frameworks, capital models, and the regulatory and accounting frameworks shaping insurance transactions across the US, Bermuda, and European markets. Familiarity with the asset side of insurance balance sheets, including fixed income, structured products, private credit, and asset based finance, with genuine interest in how investment strategy interacts with deal economics. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to author investment memos and diligence materials for senior stakeholders and investment committees. Exposure to life and annuity consolidators, run off platforms, or the Bermuda reinsurance market is a strong plus. Actuarial training, including ASA, FSA, or equivalent credentials, is welcome but not required.
