What you will do: • Chair statutory Looked After Children (LAC) reviews in line with the Children Act 1989 and IRO Handbook guidance. • Monitor and review care planning processes to ensure timeliness, quality, and child-centred practice. • Provide independent scrutiny and challenge to social work practice where necessary, escalating concerns appropriately. • Ensure children's views, wishes, and feelings are central to all review processes. • Work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, health, education, and other partners within a multi-agency framework. Roles and responsibilities: • Encourage and uphold exemplary care planning for looked after children. • Partner with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that children receive the best possible service. • Lead independent evaluations of children's care plans, offering constructive feedback and challenging practices where necessary. • Facilitate an environment where children's voices are heard and respected. Person Specification: • Qualifications: Social Work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England. • Experience: Substantial post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care, with familiarity of working with looked after children and care planning processes. Previous experience as an IRO or in a quality assurance/safeguarding role within a local authority setting. Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and work to statutory timescales.
