Vision Life is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dependable Behavioral Support Specialist/Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support an adult with developmental disabilities who is Deaf and nonverbal. The individual communicates using home signs and requires consistent behavioral support, redirection, and structured care to promote safety, independence, and quality of life. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong behavioral support experience who is passionate about making a meaningful difference every day. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support in a safe, structured environment. Implement behavior support strategies and provide consistent redirection when needed. Communicate using ASL or home signs (training provided if needed). Monitor behaviors, identify triggers, and respond appropriately using approved intervention techniques. Assist with personal care, daily living skills, and community participation as needed. Complete accurate daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports. Follow all Individual Support Plans (ISP), behavior plans, and health and safety protocols. Promote dignity, independence, and person-centered support. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or GED required. RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) Certification preferred. Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors is required. ASL knowledge is preferred or willingness to learn. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Must successfully pass a background check, TB screening, and pre-employment requirements. Reliable, professional, patient, and dependable.
