HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC / HET

Responsibilities:
To provide some idea of the tasks you may be performing, a list of responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Check excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers and other heavy construction equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
• Service attachments and working tools such as buckets, blades, winches and booms.
• May perform repair work on heavy trucks.
• May attach components and adjust new equipment.
• Maintain service records and preventative maintenance for all equipment.
Qualifications:
Requirements and qualifications for this position are a combination of skills and attitude. A minimum of 5+ years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment is ideal for this position - journeyperson certification would be an asset.
The following qualifications are needed for this role:

• Strong problem solving skills
• Completion of a 4 year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience and industry courses in heavy equipment repair.
• 4+ years of experience working on heavy civil construction equipment
• Legally able to work in Canada
