This position is expected to spend a minimum of 80% of working time in operational areas, providing visible leadership, engaging directly with supervisors, crews, contractors, and frontline workers, and verifying that critical controls are effectively implemented and maintained. The role is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental systems, programs, and performance. Through active field engagement and collaboration with project leadership, the HSE Supervisor will support the achievement of project objectives, business goals, and regulatory compliance requirements while fostering a strong safety culture and commitment to environmental stewardship. The HSE Supervisor will lead through presence in the workplace, conducting inspections, audits, Critical Control Verifications (CCVs), incident investigations, risk assessments, coaching, and workforce engagement activities. Administrative responsibilities, reporting, and system requirements are an important component of the role; however, field leadership and direct workforce interaction remain the primary focus and key measure of success. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES LEADERSHIP, GOVERNANCE & REPORTING Reports to the Project Manager Maintains a visible and active field presence across operational areas Builds and maintains relationships with both internal and external clients (e.g., engineering, operations, and contracts), Union(s), customer and contractor/subcontractor representatives to coordinate the application of Thiess HSE processes across the Project Manager Supports coordination of daily HSE activities and site priorities Assists in preparation of daily, weekly and monthly HSE reports Provides timely and accurate information to support site and regional reporting requirements Identifies and escalates gaps in execution, compliance, or system effectiveness Supports the contractor management processes through monitoring subcontractors’ Health, Safety and Environmental programs and completing frequent inspection of subcontractor worksites. Oversee the monitoring and retention of subcontractor clearance certificates.
