Health & Safety and Compliance Manager Salary: £40,787 Per Annum (Fixed Point 40) Working hours: Full time Closing date 17/08/2026 5:00 pm Location: Truro How to apply Job Description Overview How to apply Overview 📍 Multi-site at all Truro & Penwith College Campuses 💰 £40,787 per annum (Fixed Point 40) 🕒 Full time: 37 hours per week | 52 weeks per year 📌 Closing date: Monday 17 August 2026, 5pm Join a leading College committed to safety, wellbeing, and excellence Truro and Penwith College is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Health & Safety and Compliance Manager to support the delivery of a comprehensive health and safety service across the College. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture within a dynamic, multi-site educational environment. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will: • Hold overall responsibility as the College’s Competent Person. • Provide expert health and safety advice and guidance to staff across the College • Support managers in developing and maintaining risk assessments and safe systems of work • Undertake inspections, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring compliance with legislation • Analyse data and contribute to continuous improvement of safety performance • Promote and support health and safety training and awareness • Keep up to date with legislative changes and best practice • Be the Competent Person • Support the development of systems in line with recognised frameworks such as ISO 45001 You will play a visible, hands-on role in ensuring the College provides a safe, compliant, and supportive environment for staff, students, and visitors. What We’re Looking For We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable professional who has: Essential • NEBOSH Diploma or Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) • Proven experience in a health and safety role • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills • Ability to manage workloads, prioritise effectively, and work independently • Experience working across complex or multi-site environments • Strong IT and organisational skills Desirable • IOSH membership (or working towards Chartered status) • Experience within an education or public sector environment • Knowledge of ISO 45001 or formal management systems Experience delivering training or awareness programmes Why Join Us?
