🩺 We're Hiring – Head of Service – Special Educational Needs (SEN) 📍 Location: London Borough of Bromley – Churchill Court, 2 Westmoreland Road, Bromley, Kent, BR1 1AS 🔖 Reference – SCS2020 🕒 Job Type: Locum – Full Time (36 hours per week) 💼 Start Date: ASAP 💰 Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella) 🏡 Working Pattern: Hybrid – Minimum 2 days per week in the office, with the remainder working from home. About the Role: We are currently recruiting on behalf of the London Borough of Bromley for an experienced Head of Service – Special Educational Needs (SEN) to join their Education Directorate on an interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished SEND leader to provide strategic and operational leadership across Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services. The successful candidate will lead service improvement, drive SEND transformation, and work collaboratively across education, health, and social care to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND. Key Responsibilities: • Provide strategic and operational leadership for SEN services and the wider SEND partnership. • Lead the delivery of Bromley's SEND strategic vision, ensuring services are inclusive, integrated, and child-focused. • Drive continuous service improvement through effective performance management, quality assurance, and business intelligence. • Work collaboratively with schools, health partners, social care teams, and parent/carer forums to ensure high-quality SEND provision. • Provide expert advice, briefings, and reports to the Director of Education, Senior Leadership Team, and elected members. • Lead workforce development, service planning, commissioning arrangements, and budget management. • Champion the voices of children, young people, and families through meaningful engagement and co-production. • Deputise for the Director of Education when required and contribute to the Council's wider strategic leadership. Requirements: • Significant senior leadership experience within Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services. • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory guidance, and current reforms. • Proven experience managing complex budgets, commissioning services, and delivering service transformation. • Experience working across education, health, and social care partnerships. • Excellent strategic leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to lead high-performing teams and drive continuous improvement.
