We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Head of Maintenance & Estates to take ownership of the maintenance, safety, and development of our growing nursery estate across the East Midlands. Your Role As Head of Maintenance & Estates, you will: – Lead the maintenance and upkeep of all nursery buildings, gardens and outdoor play areas across our ten sites. – Carry out a wide range of hands-on maintenance including joinery, decorating, basic plumbing, repairs and general building works. – Manage reactive maintenance quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to nursery operations. – Develop and manage a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme across all settings. – Plan, prioritise and monitor all maintenance jobs, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. – Lead and support the in-house maintenance team, allocating work across multiple sites. – Manage external contractors, obtain quotations, oversee works and ensure quality standards are met. – Carry out site inspections, risk assessments and health & safety audits. What We’re Looking For We’d love to hear from you if you have: – Proven experience within maintenance, facilities, estates or property management. – Excellent practical maintenance skills across a variety of trades. – Experience leading maintenance teams and coordinating contractors. – Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects across different locations. – Good knowledge of health & safety legislation and building compliance. – Experience managing planned maintenance schedules and refurbishment projects. – Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. – A proactive, reliable and self-motivated approach. – Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel regularly across Leicester, Nottingham and Northampton. – Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one). Desirable – Trade qualifications in carpentry, plumbing, electrical or general building. – IOSH, NEBOSH or other Health & Safety qualification. – Experience within nurseries, schools, healthcare or another regulated environment. – Experience managing new site developments or large refurbishment programmes.
