This Head of Legal position is based outside of Dublin and offers the opportunity to become the principal legal adviser to the Board, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and senior leadership team of a growing international group. Initially operating as sole legal counsel, you will shape the legal function, support strategic growth and have the opportunity to recruit a small team as the business develops. Client Details Our client is a well established and growing organisation operating across multiple locations in the UK and Ireland. The business provides essential services to a diverse customer base and operates within a complex, regulated and commercially fast moving environment. The organisation is entering an important phase of growth and development, creating an excellent opportunity for a senior lawyer to shape the legal function, influence strategic decisions and work closely with the Board and executive leadership team. Description The Head of Legal will be: • Acting as the principal legal adviser to the Board and senior leadership team across legal, commercial, governance and strategic matters • Leading legal support for acquisitions, disposals, corporate structuring, financing workstreams, due diligence and post deal integration • Reviewing and negotiating customer, supplier, infrastructure and strategic commercial contracts, while advising on disputes, employment, property, data privacy and regulatory matters • Acting as Group Company Secretary, supporting Board and Committee meetings, statutory compliance, corporate governance and enterprise risk management • Managing external law firms, specialist advisers, insurance matters and legal spend, while developing the internal legal function and recruiting a small team when appropriate Profile The Head of Legal should be: • A solicitor or equivalent with significant PQE and broad commercial legal experience gained within an in-house team, private practice or a combination of both • An experienced senior legal adviser with strong commercial contracts, corporate, mergers and acquisitions and governance expertise • Comfortable overseeing commercial litigation, employment, regulatory, insurance, property and data protection matters, using external counsel where specialist support is required • Able to influence Board members and senior leaders while balancing legal risk with commercial and operational priorities • Experienced within a complex, multi site or regulated organisation, with exposure to environmental services, infrastructure, industrial, energy or utilities sectors being advantageous Job Offer This is a rare opportunity to create and lead the legal function for a growing international organisation with a clear environmental purpose. The role offers a salary of £90,000 to £110,000, a £6,000 car allowance, a 5% pension contribution, hybrid working and a bonus of up to 30%. You will have direct access to the Board and senior leadership team, broad influence across the organisation and the freedom to develop a legal team around the future needs of the business.
