Head of Development (Remote)
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Development to lead our remote engineering organisation. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll oversee a distributed team of Full Stack Developers (Node.js/JavaScript & React) and AWS Cloud/DevOps Engineers, taking ownership of technical delivery, architecture, and engineering excellence across our enterprise SaaS platform.
This is a hands-on leadership role . You’ll have a strong software engineering background and remain comfortable writing production code when needed, while mentoring teams and driving technical strategy.
Key requirements:
• 8+ years’ software development experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on expertise with JavaScript/Node.js, React, REST APIs, and AWS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and the Atlassian toolset.
• Proven success leading distributed, remote-first engineering and DevOps teams.
• Strong knowledge of scalable microservices, cloud architecture, security, and SaaS best practices.
Desirable:
• AWS certifications.
• Experience with AI/GenAI technologies (e.g. Amazon Bedrock).
• Background in SaaS, ProcureTech, or enterprise software.
This is a fully remote opportunity, working with colleagues across the UK, Europe, and the Americas, offering the chance to shape the technical direction of a mission-critical platform while remaining close to the code.
