Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Operative Location: Grays, RM17 Salary: £13.76 per hour Job Type: Temp to Perm contract Hours: 7.5 Hours per day General Duties The day-to-day duties generally include a mix of horticultural care and general site cleansing: • Lawn & Turf Care : Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers, strimming, and maintenance of sports pitches or fine turf. • Horticultural Maintenance : Planting, pruning, and seeding of flowers, shrubs, and hedges. This also includes weeding and applying chemical treatments like pesticides (if certified). • Estate Cleansing : Litter picking, emptying dog/litter bins, and leaf clearance. • Machinery Maintenance : Conducting daily safety checks on vehicles, plant, and power tools, and reporting any defects to management. Requirements & Skills • Driving Licence : A full UK manual driving licence is typically essential as operatives often travel between sites. • Physical Fitness : The ability to perform manual tasks outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods. Soft Skills : A strong “can-do” attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
