Description
Workster is recruiting for a German Content Moderator to join a growing Trust & Safety team in Sofia. You will review user-generated content across digital platforms to ensure compliance with community guidelines and legal requirements, making judgments about removal, escalation or contextualisation of content. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, resilient professional who enjoys applying policy, communicating clearly and contributing to a safer online experience in a fast-paced, multilingual environment. Your Role • Review and moderate user-generated content in German across multiple channels (text, images, video, comments, profiles) according to company policies and local law. • Apply policy consistently to assess content for hate speech, harassment, graphic violence, sexual content, misinformation and other categories; document rationale for moderation decisions. • Use internal moderation tools and workflows to action content (remove, label, escalate, restore) and to generate accurate case notes and metadata. • Escalate complex, high-risk or legally sensitive cases to senior moderators, policy or legal teams and follow up as required. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Policy, Legal, Safety, Product) to clarify guideline interpretations and support product improvements that reduce harmful content. • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of moderation guides, example libraries and training materials in German and English. • Identify trends and recurring issues, feeding insights into reporting processes to help refine policy and automated detection systems. • Work within a shift-based schedule in Sofia that may include early starts, late finishes or weekend coverage according to business needs; maintain productivity and quality targets. Your Qualifications • Native or C2-level fluency in German and strong written English (B2 or higher); additional language skills are an advantage. • Previous experience in content moderation, trust & safety, community management or a similarly policy-driven role is desirable. • Excellent written communication skills in German with the ability to explain decisions clearly and concisely; attention to tone and cultural nuance is essential. • Good judgement, resilience and the ability to make consistent decisions under pressure while handling potentially distressing material. • Familiarity with content moderation tools, ticketing systems and basic reporting; quick to learn new internal systems and processes. • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify patterns and contribute to process or policy improvements. • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a diverse, multicultural team in Sofia. • Right to work in Bulgaria or eligible for company-supported relocation; willingness to work flexible shifts as required. The Offer • Permanent full-time contract based in Sofia with competitive salary depending on experience. • Comprehensive onboarding and paid training covering moderation policy, tools, wellbeing support and best practices. • Relocation support package for international hires and assistance settling in Sofia. • Contributions towards private health coverage and access to employee assistance programmes for mental health and wellbeing. • Hybrid working model with modern office facilities in Sofia and collaborative, multicultural teams focused on safety and impact. • Clear career progression routes with opportunities to grow into policy, quality assurance or leadership roles within Trust & Safety. • Supportive environment that values continuous learning, feedback and improvements to the user experience and platform safety.
