Join a Collaborative Anesthesia Team in the Heart of the Adirondacks
The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Anesthesiologist to join our collegial team serving CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY. This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality, personalized care in a region known for its natural beauty and welcoming communities.
Position Highlights
- Primary Site: CVPH – a 300-bed hospital with 9 ORs and an Ambulatory Surgery Center.
- Care Model: Majority 1:1 model, with charge anesthesiologist occasionally supervising 2:1.
- Team Composition: Currently 5 full-time anesthesiologists and 2 CRNAs, supported by 2 full-time locum CRNAs and 2–5 rotating locum anesthesiologists.
- Call Structure:
• Equitably shared among anesthesiologists.
• Typically includes one 24-hour first-call and one second-call per week.
• Weekend call varies; second-call providers must be within a 30-minute radius.
• Second-call providers are generally released by 1 PM the following day.
• Home call permitted with a 15-minute response time.
• Overnight responsibilities include epidurals, OB, and general surgery emergencies (no neurosurgery).
Work-Life Balance
- Flexible Scheduling: Ability to tailor call volume to match your lifestyle.
- Shifts: Standard 8-hour first shifts and 6-hour post-second shifts, plus ~30 additional shifts annually.
- AHMC Coverage: Currently limited to vacation coverage only, with plans to reduce further.
- Time Off: 7 weeks of PTO annually
Clinical Environment
- Case Mix: No open-heart, intracranial neurosurgery, or intensive pediatric cases.
- Trauma Level: CVPH is a Level III Trauma Center; higher-acuity cases are transferred.

Compensation & Benefits
