Position: Freelance Auditor - Sustainability (CFP / EPD / LCA) Location: Slovenia Employment Type: Freelance / Self-employed 1. POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking an experienced Freelance Sustainability Auditor specialized in Carbon Footprint (CFP), Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies. The ideal candidate will conduct independent audits, verification activities, and compliance assessments for projects and products across infrastructure, oil & gas, and renewable energy sectors. This is a flexible, project-based engagement for a highly autonomous professional with strong technical expertise and international experience. 2. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ✅ LCA & Carbon Footprint Audits: • Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) following ISO 14040/14044 standards • Verify Carbon Footprint calculations (CFP) per ISO 14064-2, GHG Protocol, PAS 2050 • Assess cradle-to-gate, cradle-to-grave, and cradle-to-cradle scenarios • Validate data quality, inventory analysis, and impact assessment methodology ✅ EPD Verification & Certification: • Audit Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) reports per ISO 14025, EN 15804 • Verify compliance with product category rules (PCR) and international standards • Conduct third-party verification of EPD submissions • Review technical documentation and LCA modeling ✅ Compliance & Standards Verification: • Verify conformity to ISO 14040, ISO 14044, ISO 14025, ISO 14064, EN 15804 • Assess alignment with GRI, SASB, TCFD, Science Based Targets (SBT) • Check compliance with EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology • Validate against customer and regulatory requirements ✅ Data Collection & Analysis: • Review primary and secondary data sources • Assess data quality, representativeness, and completeness • Identify gaps and recommend data improvements • Analyze inventory databases (ecoinvent, GaBi, USDA, etc.) ✅ Report & Documentation: • Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, non-conformities, and recommendations • Document audit trails and evidence • Communicate results to clients, project teams, and certification bodies • Provide technical recommendations for improvement 3. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Experience: • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in LCA, CFP, EPD, or sustainability auditing • Minimum 3-5 years in independent/freelance audit or verification role • Proven experience conducting LCA and CFP studies across multiple sectors Mandatory Certifications: • ✅ ISO 14040/14044 Lead Auditor or equivalent LCA expertise certification • ✅ ISO 14025 EPD Verifier / Auditor certification • ✅ ISO 14064 Carbon Footprint Auditor or equivalent • ✅ Third-party verification accreditation (ISO/IEC 17065 or equivalent) Language & Communication: • ✅ English: Fluent (written and spoken) • ✅ Slovenian: Preferred (or willingness to work with English documentation) • Excellent technical writing and reporting skills • Ability to explain complex sustainability concepts to diverse stakeholders Engagement Details • Contract Type: Freelance • Availability: Call-based, scheduled according to audit planning calendar • Location: Slovenia (on-site audit activities at food facilities)
