Job Overview : The Fleet Assistant supports daily vehicle operations across Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois' South Elgin and Elgin clubhouses. This role is responsible for completing bi-weekly vehicle inspections, keeping vehicles clean and fueled, and reporting any concerns to the Facilities & Fleet Coordinator. The Fleet Assistant will work across a fleet of 9 vehicles with 3 additional vehicles anticipated by end of June, playing a key role in keeping the organization's growing fleet ready for program use.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Inspections & Documentation:
• Conduct bi-weekly vehicle inspections across a fleet of 9 vehicles and complete required documentation accurately and on time
• Identify and report vehicle concerns, damage, or maintenance needs to the Facilities & Fleet Coordinator promptly
Basic Vehicle Upkeep:
• Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors on a regular basis
• Fuel vehicles as needed to ensure they are ready for use
• Check fluid levels and tire condition and report any concerns to the Coordinator
Additional Responsibilities:
• Complete additional tasks and duties as assigned by the Facilities & Fleet Coordinator
Travel :
• Regular travel between the South Elgin Clubhouse (SECH) and Elgin Clubhouse (ECH) to support fleet operations at both locations
• Occasional travel for other job-related tasks as needed
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting
• Willing and eligible to complete training to drive a 12 to 15-passenger van
• Reliable transportation to travel between South Elgin and Elgin locations
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards
• Flexibility to travel between locations as required
• Ability to perform physical tasks throughout facilities, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Experience with vehicle inspections, fleet support, or transportation coordination a plus
• DOT knowledge a plus
• First Aid/CPR certification a plus
