• Fitter Turner - Leading Hand
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Machine Shop Leading Hand to support the Machine Shop Supervisor in overseeing day to day operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll drive safety, productivity, and quality while ensuring jobs are completed to a high standard and on time.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead daily activities in the machine shop, allocating work and ensuring deadlines are met
• Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and customer specifications
• Maintain a strong health & safety culture and enforce safe work practices
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other departments to keep jobs on track
• Monitor machinery performance and report maintenance requirements
• Complete job documentation, including time and materials tracking
• Train and support new team members
What You’ll Need
• Proven experience in a leading hand or similar role
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in machining or engineering
• Strong technical ability (trade qualified or time-served)
• Good computer and organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple jobs
• Current NZ driver’s licence
