The University of Houston-System is hiring a Financial Manager (Research Accounting). This role manages the daily financial operations of an accounting department to ensure accurate recording of university financial transactions in compliance with policies and regulations, while developing and maintaining operating policies and procedures. Highlights • Manages accounting staff and coordinates their work activities. • Oversees preparation, review, approval, and reconciliation of accounting transactions and general ledger activities. • Develops and implements departmental policies, long-range goals, and operating manuals. • Reviews internal audit findings and ensures compliance with recommendations. • Serves as liaison to university departments and provides accounting/financial training and support. • Responsible for cash handling operations including cashier and vault control functions. • Prepares statistical data and financial statements for management analysis. • Requires at least a four-year degree related to the work and minimum three years of directly related experience. • Preferred knowledge of Federal and State regulations and experience with system implementations in accounting functions. • Position is full-time, classified as staff, and requires criminal history check.
