Summary/Objective: The Field Welder / Fabricator is responsible for performing welding and fabrication in support of the company’s heavy equipment fleet and construction support materials. This role operates independently in both field and shop environments to repair, modify, and fabricate components including heavy equipment and attachments, pipe casing, trench boxes, and related assets. The position requires the team member to provide and maintain a fully equipped welding truck and rig to respond to service needs and minimize downtime. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. · Perform welding and fabrication on heavy equipment, attachments, and support equipment · Repair structural components such as buckets, blades, booms, frames, and related parts · Weld and fabricate pipe casing, trench boxes, and other construction support materials · Perform hardfacing, reinforcement, and structural repairs to extend equipment life · Fabricate custom components and modifications to improve durability and performance · Diagnose damage and determine appropriate repair methods · Perform field service welding to support breakdowns and operational needs · Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and repair specifications · Utilize multiple welding processes including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding · Ensure all welds meet quality, strength, and safety standards · Coordinate with the Equipment Superintendent and mechanics to prioritize and complete work · Maintain welding equipment, tools, and truck inventory in proper working condition · Inspect completed work to verify structural integrity and functionality · Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations · Maintain a clean and organized work environment in both field and shop settings Qualifications · Experience as a welder and fabricator · Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding · Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications · Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently · Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record · Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor and shop environments · Must supply and maintain a personal work truck and fully operational welding rig · Experience working with heavy equipment, pipe casing, trench boxes, or similar (preferred) · Knowledge of hardfacing and wear-resistant materials (preferred) · AWS or other welding certifications (preferred) This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the position, and it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of experience, skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities, or working conditions associated with the position.
