We are recruiting on behalf of a Victoria-based law firm seeking an experienced Family Lawyer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a direct placement role — the successful candidate will be employed by and work exclusively with the client law firm, with remuneration at Australian market-standard rates. About the Role A well-established Victorian law firm is seeking a skilled Family Lawyer to manage a broad range of family law matters. This is a hands-on, client-facing role requiring strong advocacy skills, regular client interaction, court appearances, and attendance at mediations and dispute resolution conferences. Responsibilities ∙ Manage a diverse caseload of family law matters including parenting disputes, property settlements, divorce applications, spousal maintenance, and child support matters ∙ Provide strategic legal advice to clients on family law rights, obligations, and dispute resolution options ∙ Draft, review, and negotiate family law documents, including consent orders, binding financial agreements, affidavits, and court applications ∙ Represent clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, mediations, conciliations, and other dispute resolution forums ∙ Conduct legal research and develop case strategies to achieve favourable client outcomes ∙ Liaise with clients, barristers, courts, mediators, and other relevant stakeholders ∙ Ensure compliance with Australian family law legislation, court procedures, and professional obligations ∙ Maintain accurate file records, case notes, and legal documentation using practice management systems Requirements ∙ Qualified lawyer with a current Australian practising certificate ∙ 3–7 years post-qualification experience practising family law in Australia, preferably in Victoria ∙ Strong knowledge of the Family Law Act, family dispute resolution processes, and court procedures ∙ Demonstrated experience handling parenting, property, divorce, and financial matters from commencement through resolution ∙ Proven advocacy and client representation experience, including court appearances and mediation attendance ∙ Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills ∙ Experience with Smokeball or similar legal practice management software ∙ Based in Victoria and available for full-time onsite work Benefits ∙ Direct employment with the client law firm ∙ Competitive AUD salary at market-standard rates ∙ Exposure to a broad range of family law matters ∙ Professional development and ongoing training support ∙ Long-term career growth opportunities within a respected firm Applications are being managed by Teams Squared on behalf of the client.
