Family & Childcare Team Legal Secretary Location: St Albans Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Dependent on Experience An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and organised Legal Secretary to join a busy and expanding Family & Childcare Law team based in St Albans. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a supportive, modern, and well-established legal practice that is committed to delivering outstanding client service. Working within a dynamic team, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department. The Role Key responsibilities include: • Audio typing from digital dictation and copy typing. • Preparing, formatting, and amending legal documents and correspondence. • Managing electronic filing and maintaining accurate client records. • Handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls with clients, Counsel, experts, and third parties. • Managing fee earners' diaries, appointments, and meetings. • Welcoming clients and visitors in a professional manner. • Assisting with Legal Aid (CCMS) applications and administration. • Processing fee notes and managing experts' invoices. • Ensuring compliance with office procedures and regulatory requirements. • Providing general administrative support as required. About You The successful candidate will ideally have: • Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role. • Experience within Family and/or Childcare Law (preferred but not essential). • A genuine interest in Family Law. • Excellent organisational and time management skills. • Strong attention to detail with fast and accurate typing skills. • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. • The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities. • A professional, proactive, and client-focused approach.
