Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 per annum
Occasional staying away required – travel and accommodation expenses fully covered
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Fabric Engineer with fire door qualifications to join our growing team, working across commercial and industrial sites nationwide. This is a mobile role involving planned and reactive building fabric maintenance, with a strong focus on fire door inspections, maintenance, and compliance works.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within commercial environments and be confident carrying out a range of general fabric maintenance duties alongside specialist fire door work.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance across multiple commercial sites nationwide
• Inspect, maintain, repair, and install fire doors in line with current fire safety regulations and compliance standards
• Complete fire door remedial works including adjustments, hardware replacement, seals, closers, hinges, and signage
• Conduct routine fabric repairs including basic carpentry, joinery, patch repairs, painting, and general maintenance tasks
• Identify defects and ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within compliance requirements
• Accurately complete maintenance reports, inspection records, and compliance documentation
• Liaise with site managers and clients to provide updates on works and recommendations
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
• Travel nationally to various client sites, with occasional overnight stays where required
Requirements
• Experience working as a Fabric Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Carpenter/Joiner within commercial environments
• Fire Door Inspection or Installation Qualification preferred
• Good understanding of fire door compliance and current regulations
• Experience carrying out general building fabric maintenance and repairs
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong communication and organisational skills
