Description
The director works with the board to establish an annual budget, fundraising goals, and a long-range plan for the fiscal sustainability of the organization. Identifies and pursues funding sources through government allocations, grants, solicitations to individuals and businesses, and among other means, generate non-dues revenue through writing National Register nominations, conducting historic surveys, and consulting on historic preservation tax incentives projects. Supports and expands current annual fundraiser. Supervises and works with staff to set and achieve annual goals, and ensure that resources are available to make this possible. Responsible for the recruitment and release of all personnel. Serves as the primary spokesperson for the institution and is the liaison to the media, the community and the local government. Ability to meet with building owners to discuss appropriate rehabilitation plans and techniques. Ability to research the history of buildings through primary and secondary sources and by analyzing the building itself. Gives interviews with regard to the museum and to the history of Vicksburg’s built environment. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum including staff, maintenance, financials, curation, ordering merchandise for the gift shop, etc.
