This is an excellent opportunity for a self-sufficient professional with strong technical expertise in noise, nuisance and pollution matters. Environmental Protection Officer – Midlands Location: Midlands (Hybrid Working) Contract: Interim / Contract Opportunity Working Pattern: Hybrid – Minimum 2 days per week in the office/on site Key Responsibilities • Investigate and manage complaints relating to: • Statutory nuisance • Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) • Noise pollution • Environmental pollution issues • Undertake noise assessments and provide professional recommendations. • Review and respond to planning application consultations. • Assess and comment on technical reports relating to: • Acoustics • Dust management • Light nuisance • Maintain accurate records and case management using Uniform/IDOX. • Attend site visits and office-based duties as required. Essential Requirements • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision following an initial induction period. • Available to attend the office full-time during the first week for induction. • Trustworthy, reliable and able to manage a varied workload effectively. • Proven experience working within a small, busy Environmental Health team dealing with high volumes of enquiries and complaints. • Strong competency in assessing noise nuisance cases. • Ideally qualified with the Institute of Acoustics (IoA) Diploma or equivalent. • Experience using Norsonic and/or Larson Davis sound level meters and associated software. • Experience reviewing planning applications and interpreting technical environmental reports. • Previous use of Uniform/IDOX is essential. • Willingness to work on-site and attend the office a minimum of 2 days per week .
