Secondary English Teacher - Supply & General Cover Location: Plymouth, Devon
Job Type: Part-Time / Full-Time, Temporary, Supply
Salary: Competitive Daily Rate (Dependent on Experience / Scale)
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday (Term-time only)

Randstad Education is actively recruiting an adaptable, enthusiastic English Specialist to support secondary schools across Plymouth and the surrounding areas. This role offers the perfect blend of subject-specialist delivery and general cover teaching, allowing you to work strict school hours (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM) with absolutely no evening planning or marking.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality, pre-planned English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).
• Provide flexible general cover across alternative secondary school subjects, maintaining excellent classroom management and engagement.
• Foster a positive, safe, and productive learning environment in line with individual school behaviour policies.
• Leave clear, constructive handover notes for the returning classroom teacher.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification (ECTs/NQTs are highly encouraged to apply).
• A strong subject knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for secondary English.
• Excellent adaptability, strong communication skills, and a confident approach to general cover teaching.
• Must be based in or able to reliably commute to Plymouth.
• A valid Enhanced DBS clearance on the Update Service (or willingness to process a new one through Randstad).
