Engineering Team Leader – Central Belt – Competitive Salary
Our client, a well-established and innovative manufacturer is looking to appoint an Engineering Team Leader to join their engineering department on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional looking to take the next step into a leadership role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You'll play a key role in driving engineering performance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Are you who we're looking for?
• HNC/ONC or BTEC Level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline
• 3–5 years' experience within an engineering production or manufacturing environment
• Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring engineering teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both senior management and engineering teams
• Experience working with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems and reactive maintenance
• Knowledge of CMMS systems and good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and make decisions under pressure
What does the day-to-day look like?
• Lead and coordinate the engineering team to deliver planned and reactive maintenance activities
• Allocate engineering work and monitor progress to ensure work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard
• Manage engineering breakdowns, repairs and maintenance activities to maximise equipment availability
• Work closely with the Planner/Scheduler to prioritise workloads and improve maintenance performance
• Ensure accurate completion of maintenance documentation, including labour, materials and technical feedback
• Drive health & safety compliance and promote best engineering practices across the department
• Coach, mentor and support engineers to encourage engagement and continuous development
• Monitor maintenance KPIs and identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime
• Collaborate with Production, Operations and other departments to ensure effective communication and minimise disruption
• Support continuous improvement projects and contribute to the ongoing development of engineering processes
