Job Title: Engineer / Maintenance Technician
Location: Hilton Garden Inn – Ridgefield Park, NJ
Reports To: General Manager / Chief Engineer
Position Overview:
The Engineer / Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and team members. This position plays a critical role in upholding Hilton brand standards and ensuring guest satisfaction through responsive and efficient service.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
•
Conduct preventative maintenance on guestrooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and hotel equipment.
•
Respond promptly to guest room calls and service requests in a professional and courteous manner.
•
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the maintenance workshop and related areas.
•
Assist in maintaining the hotel's safety and emergency systems (fire alarm, sprinkler, etc.).
•
Work closely with the General Manager and/or Chief Engineer to manage maintenance schedules and supply inventory.
•
Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures, including OSHA regulations.
•
Maintain accurate logs of completed work, inspections, and inventory.
•
Support energy conservation initiatives and ensure cost-effective use of hotel utilities.
Qualifications:
•
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
•
1–3 years of experience in building maintenance or a similar role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
•
Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
•
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
•
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities such as climbing ladders or working in confined spaces.
•
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
•
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
•
EPA certification and/or boiler license is a plus.
Work Environment:
•
Fast-paced hospitality environment.
•
Requires standing, walking, and working in both indoor and outdoor conditions.
•
Must be available for emergency on-call rotation.
