Job Description:
At BMW Car IT, a wholly owned subsidiary of BMW AG, we live and breathe software. We design and implement embedded software for electronic control units of the BMW cars as well as related tools and frameworks. By delivering software all the way from the idea to the final product we lead BMW into the future of digitalization and mobility.
We develop innovative graphics software for embedded automotive systems and work closely with UX, hardware, and system architecture teams to deliver premium in-vehicle experiences. We combine deep software expertise with strong cross-functional collaboration to shape state-of-the-art visual experiences for current and future BMW vehicle platforms.
What awaits you?
• You design and develop modern graphics software for embedded systems in current and future BMW vehicle platforms.
• Furthermore, you develop and optimise graphics stacks, including OpenGL ES, Vulkan, and GPU driver integration.
• In addition, you implement rendering pipelines, compositing mechanisms, and performance-critical graphics functions.
• Moreover, you work with hardware suppliers to integrate GPUs and display controllers.
• Additionally, you analyse and improve runtime performance, memory usage, and rendering latency.
• Likewise, you create tools and frameworks to validate graphics functions across embedded automotive systems.
• Finally, you contribute throughout the full software lifecycle, from requirements engineering to series release.
What should you bring along?
• Several years of professional experience in embedded software development and quality assurance in automotive graphics.
• Strong proficiency in graphics stacks for embedded systems and hands-on experience with OpenGL ES, Vulkan, EGL, and GPU drivers.
• Extensive experience with Android graphics architecture and Linux graphics stacks, including Wayland, KMS, and DRM.
• Good understanding of GPU architectures, rendering pipelines, and real-time system constraints.
• Knowledge of HMI frameworks, software architecture methods, ISO 26262, and CI/CD pipelines is advantageous.
• Fluent English language skills; German language skills are an advantage.
