Position Summary
Veritas Academy seeks a Christ-centered, academically curious Elementary Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming school year. The successful candidate will instruct grammar-stage students in reading, writing, mathematics, history, science, Latin foundations, and the arts—shaping young hearts and minds through the classical Christian tradition. This role is ideal for an early-career or experienced educator who is passionate about discipleship, classical pedagogy, and partnering closely with Christian families.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons rooted in the classical Christian model (grammar stage of the trivium)
• Teach core subjects including phonics, reading, literature, math, history, science, and Bible
• Employ classical methods such as recitation, narration, copywork, memorization, and Socratic discussion
• Develop and submit weekly lesson plans aligned with the school’s scope and sequence
• Assess student progress regularly and provide grades and feedback within 48 hours
• Lead daily devotional practices including prayer, Scripture, hymns, and catechism
• Cultivate a joyful, well-ordered classroom environment marked by gospel-centered discipline
• Communicate proactively and warmly with parents as co-laborers in their children’s education
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development in classical pedagogy, and school events
• Model Christlike character, intellectual curiosity, and a love for learning
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (Education, Liberal Arts, Humanities, or related field preferred)
• A vibrant, professing faith in Jesus Christ and active membership in a Bible-believing local church
• Wholehearted agreement with Veritas Academy’s Statement of Faith and Mission
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to nurture and instruct young children with patience, warmth, and authority
• Ability to pass a background check and meet California requirements for working with minors
Preferred Qualifications
• Teaching credential or coursework in elementary education
• Familiarity with classical Christian education (Dorothy Sayers’ The Lost Tools of Learning, Charlotte Mason principles, the trivium, the Great Tradition)
• Prior classroom teaching experience, especially in a Christian or classical school setting
• Background in Latin, music, fine arts, or literature
