Position Overview:
Electrical Maintenance Technician in Paint Shop is responsible for the preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment within the automotive paint shop.
The role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical assets supporting paint shop processes including pre-treatment, E-coat, primer, basecoat, clearcoat, ovens, inspection areas, material handling systems, and utilities.
The technician plays a key role in minimizing downtime, ensuring electrical safety, and supporting production and quality targets.
Responsibilities:
Electrical Equipment Maintenance:
Perform preventive maintenance on paint shop electrical systems including motors, drives, panels, sensors, actuators, and power distribution equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in conveyors, spray booths, ovens, robots, pumps, fans, and utility systems.
Identify and rectify issues related to cables, connectors, relays, contactors, VFDs, and safety circuits.
Support predictive maintenance through insulation resistance testing, thermal scanning, and condition monitoring.
Troubleshooting & Breakdown Response:
Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns to restore equipment safely and minimize production downtime.
Use electrical drawings, schematics, IO lists, and manuals to diagnose faults.
Coordinate with automation and mechanical maintenance teams for integrated troubleshooting.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring electrical failures and implement corrective actions.
Installation & Commissioning Support:
Assist in installation, wiring, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment and panels.
Support electrical modifications, upgrades, and retrofits approved by engineering.
Verify electrical safety, functionality, and operational readiness before handover to production.
Safety & Compliance:
Strictly follow electrical safety, LOTO procedures, hazardous-area / ATEX requirements, and PPE usage.
Ensure compliance with company standards, OEM guidelines, and applicable electrical codes and regulations.
Identify and report electrical safety hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Process & Quality Support:
Ensure electrical systems operate within defined process parameters to support stable paint quality.
Support electrical checks related to process control, sensors, and monitoring systems.
Report electrical abnormalities that may impact paint quality, safety, or equipment reliability.
Documentation & Coordination:
Complete maintenance work orders, inspection checklists, and fault reports accurately.
Maintain records of electrical repairs, inspections, and modifications.
