Position Summary
The Virginia Civic Engagement Table (VCET) is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Election Protection Fellow to support its Election Protection Program during the 2026 November General Election. This is a paid part-time fellowship beginning August 2026 and going into late November 2026. This role requires a dedicated young professional who is passionate about voting rights and progressive causes. This individual is a team-player with a willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities. Under the direction of the Election Protection Manager, the Election Protection Fellow will assist with organizing and training volunteers, building and maintaining complex data sets, and collaborating with staff to execute VCET’s Election Protection Program for the 2026 November General Election.
Responsibilities include:
Collaborate with VCET staff and partners to execute Virginia’s Election Protection Program and ensure that all programmatic goals are met.
Assist the Election Protection Manager with virtual volunteer trainings, ensuring that volunteers feel comfortable and prepared ahead of their shifts.
Respond to volunteer questions and help troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Offer support during meetings with coalition partner organizations, external stakeholders, and key players in the Election Protection landscape.
Work alongside the Election Protection Manager in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data related to Election Protection efforts.
Assist with the creation of voter education materials, including Know Your Rights information and rapid response efforts.
Support program logistics by updating databases, managing materials for volunteer packets, and planning supplies distribution.
Spearhead research assignments to support the Election Protection Coalition’s efforts.
Other duties as assigned by the Election Protection Manager.
Your Starting Point
The Election Protection program is highly structured and continuously evolving; you will be inheriting many pre-existing systems and rhythms, while having the opportunity to help improve and shape how the program is executed. We are looking for someone who is both eager to understand its history and current iteration and to deepen the quality to ensure we are able to meet future challenges to voting rights.
