Position Overview The Safety Officer for the Early Learning Center is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for children, staff, parents, and visitors. This role focuses on safety presence, access control, emergency response, and supporting daily operations while maintaining professionalism, patience, and strong communication skills in a childcare and educational setting. Key Responsibilities Monitor and maintain the safety and security of the Early Learning Center premises Conduct access control by monitoring entrances, exits, and visitor check-ins Ensure all visitors follow site procedures and sign-in requirements Maintain a visible and professional safety presence throughout the facility Assist with morning arrival, dismissal, and parent pick-up procedures Observe and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, or policy violations Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, medical situations, or disturbances Complete detailed incident and daily activity reports accurately and on time Monitor cameras and surveillance systems when applicable Support staff with maintaining a calm, safe, and organized environment Assist with emergency drills, lockdown procedures, and evacuation protocols Maintain professionalism and positive communication with children, parents, staff, and visitors Follow all company policies, client expectations, and childcare safety regulations Attend required training sessions, meetings, and certifications Work Environment This position works within an active childcare and educational environment that may include classrooms, playgrounds, parking lots, and common areas. Officers should be comfortable interacting with children, parents, and staff daily while maintaining safety standards and professionalism. Requirements Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Previous security, safety, childcare, school, or customer service experience preferred Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations Strong observation and communication skills Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required Must pass background screening and any site-required clearances CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain Preferred Skills & Attributes Professional appearance and demeanor Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills Friendly and approachable personality Ability to work well with children and families Strong sense of responsibility and accountability Team-oriented mindset with attention to detail
