🩺 We're Hiring – Early Help Practitioner (Qualified Social Worker) 📍 Location: Darlington 🔖 Reference – SCS2018 🕒 Job Type: Locum Temporary – Full Time 💼 Start Date: August 2026 (6-Month Contract) 💰 Rate/Salary: Competitive (Dependent on Experience) About the Role: We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Early Help Practitioner to join their supportive Early Help Service in Darlington on a locum temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people, and families by delivering targeted interventions, coordinating multi-agency support, and promoting positive outcomes through early intervention. Please note: Applicants must be a Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration. Key Responsibilities: • Work in partnership with children, young people, families, and professionals to deliver targeted Early Help interventions. • Act as Lead Professional where required, coordinating support packages and chairing Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings. • Complete assessments, develop intervention plans, and provide direct support to families experiencing: • Domestic abuse • Mental health difficulties • Substance misuse • Family conflict • Child exploitation • Trauma • School attendance and engagement issues • Deliver intensive practical support, advice, and guidance, referring families to specialist services where appropriate. • Facilitate group sessions for children, young people, and parents within Family Hubs and the local community. • Maintain accurate and timely case records using the electronic case management system. • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and families. • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met in line with local policies and child protection procedures. Requirements: • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration (essential). • Previous experience working within Early Help, Children's Services, Family Support, or a similar statutory setting. • Strong assessment, intervention planning, and multi-agency working skills. • Excellent communication and organisational abilities. • Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures. • Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to undertake one).
