Description
Westside Waldorf School is seeking a warm, dependable, and adaptable educator to join our Early Childhood team as an Assistant Teacher. The assistant teacher will work closely with the lead teacher to facilitate an exceptional Waldorf Early Childhood experience for the students. They will support daily preparations, the organization and tidiness of the indoor and outdoor learning spaces, and other day-to-day responsibilities that support the school environment. They will also engage with students and help to manage and supervise them according to the principles of Waldorf Education and under the direction and guidance of the lead teacher.
Westside Waldorf School's thriving Early Childhood program includes two kindergarten classes, two nursery classes, and a Parent/Child program all located at the O’Neill campus in Santa Monica, California. The school also has a full Grades 1-8 program at a separate Santa Monica location. Our kindergartens are mixed-age, with 4- to 6-year-olds, and class sizes are 15 to 17 children, while our Nurseries range from 2.6 to 4.5 years old, with up to 12 children in each class.
Primary Duties
• Support the lead teacher throughout the school year.
• Help prepare and maintain inviting classroom and outdoor learning environments.
• Assist with snack preparation, classroom organization, and cleanup.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play while promoting respectful interactions and age-appropriate independence.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Follow all school health, safety, and licensing requirements.

Requirements
• Strong interpersonal and teaching skills.
• Willingness to collaborate with faculty team and administration.
• An understanding of Waldorf education.
• Must have completed 12 ECE units.
• Must pass Livescan (background check), TB clearance, and physical exam.
• Training in CPR & First Aid, with willingness to obtain current certification if needed.
Position Details
Compensation: $24 - $28/hr, depending on experience and qualifications, + benefits
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:45 am – 3:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch
Term: 10-month cycle (mid-August to mid-June), with potential for annual renewal
