Summary The Distribution Center Quality Control Specialist evaluates and certifies the quality, authenticity, and value of gemstones and inspects workmanship on product from brand partners and showrooms. The role performs identification, testing, valuation and documentation of diamonds and precious stones and recommends repair or replacement actions. This specialist supports all Distribution Center functions and provides flexibility to assist across DC areas as needed. Responsibilities • Distinguish between natural and synthetic/lab-grown stones and stay current with grading standards. • Inspect jewelry using microscopes, polariscopes and other gemology tools to assess color, clarity, cut and carat weight. • Provide valuations for insurance purposes and write reports documenting gemstone characteristics and value. • Recommend repair or replacement actions for damaged product and coordinate with partners. • Perform inventory reconciliations across Distribution Center locations and assist with other DC duties as assigned. • Communicate and collaborate with clients, designers, retailers and manufacturers. Requirements • GIA GG or equivalent; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. • Experience in the jewelry field with strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to use microscopes and gemological testing equipment and to document findings accurately. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and work effectively as part of a team. • Distribution Center experience and SAP knowledge preferred; luxury jewelry and watch product knowledge preferred.
