Tätigkeitsbereich:Strategy & Corporate Development Unterfunktion Der Tätigkeit:Business Development Tätigkeitskategorie:People Leader Alle Standorte Für Stellenangebote:Shanghai, China Jobbeschreibung: Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Director, Scientific Licensing, Oncology, China to join our Innovative Medicine Business Development (IM BD) team.  This role can be based out of Shanghai with a daily presence at the Asia Pacific Innovation center. The Director, Scientific Licensing, Oncology is a key member of the Innovative Medicine Business Development team, responsible for advancing the Oncology business development strategy in alignment with the over-arching TA and China strategy by identifying and evaluating opportunities aligned with therapeutic priorities. The role builds strategic internal and external scientific relationships, leads opportunity scouting and assessment, and oversees diligence teams across the R&D matrix. Key Responsibilities: • Accountable for identifying target opportunities and companies through comprehensive and systematic landscape mapping of oncology innovation across China, ensuring full visibility of relevant opportunities. • Identify, track, and prioritize emerging oncology assets and platforms; continuously monitor scientific progress, data evolution, and partnering readiness; and proactively engage with biopharma companies, incubators, VC firms, and broader ecosystem stakeholders to maintain early access to innovation. • Lead the scientific evaluation of opportunities, including coordination of end-to-end due diligence processes across R&D functions. • In close collaboration with TA leadership and the VP BD/Sr. Director Licensing for Oncology, ensure R&D resources are effectively deployed in a structured, efficient, timely, and cost-conscious manner to support opportunity evaluation. • Ensure all opportunities advancing toward contracting meet internal portfolio standards for scientific excellence; clearly identify, communicate, and challenge development risks with R&D leadership, and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are incorporated into development plans and cost assumptions. • Collaborate with External Innovation, New Business Development, China clinical teams, and APAC colleagues to drive aligned, efficient, and high-quality evaluation of licensing opportunities. • Collaborate with IMBD colleagues to continuously enhance processes, templates, and data systems, elevating execution standards and operational excellence across business development activities. Qualifications and Experience Education: • A minimum of a Master's degree in life sciences is required. • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in life sciences strongly preferred Required: • A minimum of 8 years of experience in biopharma, biotech, venture capital, or consulting, with focus on oncology is desired • Solid understanding of oncology biology and emerging therapeutic modalities. • Demonstrated experience in evaluation and driving deals of oncology assets • Experienced in external engagement with a deep network in China innovation ecosystem • Experience working within or closely with the China oncology ecosystem • Leadership skills as well as strong interpersonal communication. • Strong stakeholder management, ability to navigate complex organizations • Excellent communication skills, English and Chinese preferred Preferred: • Experience participating in scientific due diligence teams • Work experience in business development is strongly preferred Other: • High self-drive and an aspirational demeanor are encouraged in the role. • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively. • Strong critical thinking and decision-making capabilities, with demonstrated resilience and learning agility. • This role requires up to 30% domestic and international travel. • Collaborative mindset and ability to work seamlessly within cross-functional teams. • Shared responsibility for Oncology scientific licensing in partnership with the broader Business Development team.
