Description
About Moment Energy Independent energy is here. Help us deploy it. Energy should be free.  Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone. The world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy. Now is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact. We were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale. Now is the moment. Join us. The Role Moment Energy is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and scale our multidisciplinary engineering organization as we expand production of our battery energy storage systems. This role will oversee a growing team of engineers across multiple disciplines. As a key member of the engineering leadership team, the Director of Engineering will drive technical strategy, engineering execution, and team development while ensuring that our products move efficiently from design through certification and into scalable manufacturing.  The ideal candidate combines strong technical leadership with operational execution, bringing experience scaling engineering teams, delivering complex hardware products, and collaborating cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, product, and commercial teams. Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.  Plan, build, and hire new teams to take on new initiatives and scale the company.  Lead motivated teams and individuals by demonstrating strong hands-on skills and the ability to break down full business objectives into strategies for teams. Partner closely with executive leadership to align engineering priorities with business objectives. Product Development & Technical Execution Oversee the design and development of battery energy storage system (BESS) components and integrated systems, including battery enclosures, power electronics integration, thermal management systems, and structural components. Guide system architecture decisions to ensure performance, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability. Lead cross-functional collaboration between hardware, firmware, and software teams to ensure seamless integration of systems. Ensure engineering programs progress effectively from concept through prototyping, validation, certification, and production launch.
