Job Overview We are currently recruiting a driven and detail-oriented Digital Trust and Safety Specialist with German to join a leading social media platform's operations team, based on-site in Sofia, Bulgaria. Key Responsibilities Review, assess, and moderate user-generated content on a major social media platform, ensuring full compliance with community standards, platform policies, and legal requirements for German-speaking markets. Identify and action policy-violating content including misinformation, hate speech, graphic material, harassment, and fraud across social media channels. Investigate complex trust and safety cases, escalating high-risk or sensitive issues to the appropriate internal teams in a timely and accurate manner. Provide clear, consistent, and policy-aligned decisions regarding content removal, user warnings, account restrictions, and bans on the social media platform. Monitor emerging trends, coordinated inauthentic behaviour, and potential threats within the German-language social media ecosystem, providing actionable insights to the team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, policy, and engineering to continuously improve trust and safety processes and workflows. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of cases reviewed, decisions made, and actions taken in line with platform operational requirements. Participate in regular calibration sessions, team briefings, and ongoing training to stay aligned with evolving community guidelines and best practices in digital trust and safety. Requirements Native or fluent German language skills (both spoken and written) are mandatory for this role. Valid EU passport is required (mandatory for relocation and employment eligibility). Strong proficiency in English for internal communications, reporting, and team collaboration. Prior experience in content moderation, trust and safety, digital compliance, or a related field within social media or online platforms is highly advantageous. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills with a high degree of attention to detail and consistency. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, graphic, or emotionally challenging content in a professional and resilient manner, with a commitment to personal well-being. Strong understanding of online community standards, digital safety principles, and the social media landscape, particularly in German-speaking regions.
