Description
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to lead our in-house maintenance operations. This role is responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair activities, managing shop personnel, coordinating parts and inventory, and ensuring maximum equipment uptime. This is a leadership position requiring both technical expertise and strong organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily shop operations and maintenance activities for all heavy equipment
• Supervise, train, and manage shop mechanics and support staff
• Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues when needed
• Plan and prioritize repairs to minimize equipment downtime and support operations
• Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs
• Create, review, and approve parts requisitions and ensure accurate ordering of parts and materials
• Manage parts inventory levels, vendors, and purchasing processes
• Track and control maintenance costs, budgets, and repair timelines
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and reporting
• Coordinate with operations teams to schedule repairs and equipment availability
• Ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards
• Enforce shop safety policies and OSHA regulations
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment

Requirements
• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics
• 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Proven ability to manage a maintenance shop or team
• Experience with budgeting, cost tracking, and vendor management
• Valid driver’s license required
