Salary: £17.50ph Hours: 37.5 per weekday Vacancy Type : Permanent – Full Time Deputy Manager: We are seeking suitably experienced and highly motivated Deputy Manager for a new, exciting and progressive residential provision for children and young people with complex needs. The home will accommodate children who have not had the best start in life, whose support requirements are such that it’s difficult for them to live in a regular children’s home provision. You will be support the Registered Manager. The location of your place of work will be determined by suitability, identified skill set, availability, and the overall needs of the service. You will work in a residential setting, working to a rota system that includes daytime, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts. This includes working statutory bank holidays where normal agreed rota patterns dictate. Overnight work will take the form of either sleep-in or waking night shifts depending on the needs of the children / young people in that location. The role: • Assisting the Registered Manager in supporting, mentoring, and supervising the Residential Childcare Worker team • Stand in for the Registered Manager in meetings with external stakeholders, including social workers, regulatory bodies, education professionals, parents and carers when required • Take responsibility for any monitoring and recording tasks and administrative duties that may reasonably be delegated by the Registered Manager • To be part of the On-Call service • To prepare for, arrange, and facilitate staff meetings when required • To engage in training appropriate to the role and maintain an up-to-date training profile • To undertake any other managerial duties as may be necessary General responsibilities: • • Maintain positive childcare practice and work within the service’s aims, objectives and working values; to deliver a quality, child-centred service • Be familiar with and follow all regulatory requirements pertaining to OFSTED registration • Provide a positive role model for children and young people, and act as mentor to new team members • Promote a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people, using a nurturing and enabling approach to maximising opportunities for the young people you support • Be familiar with, and comply with, all policies and procedures relevant to the home • Participate in the development of individual plans for children and young people • Maintain all case file records, including risk assessments, safeguarding and education plans • Maintain accurate records and reports, including all day to day documentation • Accept responsibility for administering such monies as may be required in carrying out your duties • Ensure at all times that the child or young person’s safety and well-being are paramount • Immediately report any concerns of a child protection or safeguarding nature • Attend reviews and planning meetings around individual children as and when required • Participate in training and supervision and adopt a learning approach to personal development • Attend all staff meetings as required • Undertake all household duties as required, promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness • Maintain a professional and respectful approach to dealing with outside agencies • Respond to emergencies that may arise within the organisation, and comply with reasonable requests to cover staff shortfalls • Any or all other duties that may be reasonably requested by your manager or the organisation.
