Description SUMMARY: The Dental Hygienist is responsible for the preventative aspect of the dental department regarding educational, clinical and follow-up activities. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). • Reviews and updates medical and dental history during periodic visits. • Conducts and documents blood pressures on all patients as needed. • Performs all preventative activities according to the State’s Dental Practice Act. (i.e., dental prophylaxis, topical fluorides, and sealants to appropriate patients.) • Take necessary radiographs as directed. • Provides patient education to increase awareness regarding nutrition and home maintenance. • Controls the inventory of patient educational materials and audits and orders hygiene supplies. • Maintains and evaluates an active recall system. • Confirms hygiene appointments for the following day as time permits. • Backs up the Dental Assistant and Receptionist when time permits. • Performs Triage Emergencies, Dosimetry Maintenance and other duties as assigned by the Dental Operations Director. • Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: • Connecticut State Registered Dental Hygienist license required. • Two years’ experience; bilingual preferred. • CPR/BLS Certified • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. • Education and/or Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of dental hygiene.
