Description
we are seeking a Data Operations Engineer responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of data pipelines, workflows, and governance systems that support our Day-to-Day (D2D) Data Governance activities .
The ideal candidate has a strong background in Linux system administration, scripting, and data management , combined with hands-on experience in job scheduling and release management . This role requires close collaboration with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to maintain data quality, integrity, and availability .
Function Description
Data Pipeline Operations
• Manage and maintain Linux-based data pipelines to ensure efficient and accurate data flows.
• Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate data processing, transformation, and loading.
• Collaborate with data engineers to optimize workflows and improve overall data quality .
Job Scheduling & Release Management
• Create, schedule, and manage jobs in Control-M to ensure timely processing and delivery.
• Coordinate with planning teams to execute releases with minimal operational disruption.
• Monitor execution, analyze logs, and troubleshoot job failures to maintain integrity.
Incident Management
• Detect, respond to, and resolve data-related incidents swiftly to reduce business impact.
• Perform root cause analysis , implementing corrective actions to avoid recurrence.
• Document incidents, resolutions, and lessons learned for continuous improvement .
Data Management
• Manage databases, run queries, and resolve connectivity issues .
• Work closely with data analysts and engineers to strengthen governance and quality.
• Develop and maintain data quality checks to guarantee accuracy and reliability.
Soft Skills
• Strong analytical problem-solving mindset.
• Clear communication with stakeholders to meet data needs.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic data environment .
Nice to Have
• Basic knowledge of Ab Initio development and data governance principles.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems.
• Familiarity with mainframe systems for data integration.
Language Requirements
• English: Fluent (mandatory)
• Dutch or French: At least one is mandatory; knowledge of the other is a plus
Work Conditions
• Travel: None
• Telework: 50% on-site, 50% remote
Required Experience / Knowledge
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in Data Analytics / Data Operations .
Technical (Mandatory)
• Strong background in Linux system administration, scripting, and data management .
• Experience in job scheduling (Control-M) and release management .
Technical (Preferable)
• Ab Initio development basics.
• Experience with Git .
• Knowledge of mainframe integration .
Business (Preferable)
• Banking industry experience .
