Data Governance Engineer Portugal | Hybrid Financial Services We are looking for a Data Governance Engineer to join an international financial services organization and play a key role in shaping data governance practices across enterprise-scale Azure platforms. Key Responsibilities • Lead metadata, lineage, and data catalog initiatives. • Define and implement Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks. • Ensure compliance with GDPR and internal governance standards. • Manage data classification, retention policies, and governance documentation. • Monitor data platform health and quality metrics. • Lead incident management and production support activities. • Collaborate with technical and business teams to drive governance best practices. Requirements • 3+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Platforms. • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or comparable field; • Strong knowledge of metadata, lineage, and data catalog concepts. • Experience with production support and incident management. • Understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and data architectures. • Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and PySpark/Spark . • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Azure Data Lake Gen2, and Azure Monitor . • Professional English (C1) is mandatory. • EU Citizenship or valid work permit for Portugal. Nice to Have • Experience in Financial Services or other regulated industries. • Knowledge of GDPR and compliance frameworks. • French and/or Dutch language skills.
